The next major WordPress release will now arrive on May 20, 2026. The updated WordPress 7.0 schedule adds two release candidates to provide more time for testing performance enhancements for Real-time Collaboration.
Key dates to look out for:
- May 8: Release Candidate 3
- May 14: Release Candidate 4
- May 20: WordPress 7.0 release
We’ll announce here in the Lobby once the upcoming release candidates are available for testing on WordPress VIP. In the meantime, you can continue testing Release Candidate 2 in your non-production environments.
