When you’re editing your homepage, knowing what’s working in real time is key to making confident decisions. Parse.ly HUD (Heads Up Display) shows you how your content is performing, by displaying analytics UI on top of the page you’re on. It’s available now for all Parse.ly customers.
What is it?
Parse.ly HUD layers content analytics over your live website homepage and section pages, so you can see how every placement is performing in real time on the same pages where you make placement decisions.
It replaces the Overlay bookmarklet with a new app, built from the ground up. Everything you already use is still here, along with headline testing controls, easy switching between slot and story metrics, and a new ranking view.

Parse.ly HUD shows you what’s working on your website, and why, in the exact page you’re analyzing. It empowers newsrooms to make decisions in the moment and curate confidence by showing what’s driving performance for each placement on your homepage and section pages.
What’s included
- Everything you already use in the Overlay bookmarklet: Click-through rate, share of page clicks, and clicks per minute, each with change-over-time and historical variants, plus clicks per interval. Review data from the last 5 minutes up to the last 6 hours.
- See the audience behind every number: Views, visitors, and engaged time for every story in the page, filterable by referral source and device type.
- Slots and stories, side by side: Switch freely between story and slot metrics to understand how an article or position is performing.
- Headline testing on the page: Trigger new headline experiments, and review in-progress and finished tests in their dedicated sidebar tabs, no roundtrips to the Parse.ly Dashboard.
- A ranking tab: Orders every slot and post on the page by a metric of your choice for quick insights on what’s working.
Get started
Getting started with the Parse.ly HUD takes only a few clicks:
- Open Parse.ly HUD settings and drag the “Parse.ly HUD” badge to your bookmarks bar.
- Select the Parse.ly HUD bookmark on any page of your site with custom content placement, like your homepage or a section page.
