The VIP Dashboard can now notify you when a Let’s Encrypt TLS certificate on one of your domains is about to expire, so your team can act before it disrupts your applications.
What is it?
TLS Certificate Expiry is a new notification event type in the VIP Dashboard. It covers the Let’s Encrypt certificates that VIP provisions and renews for your domains automatically. When one of these certificates is close to its expiry date and has not renewed on its own, we send a notification to the destinations you choose, giving your team a chance to evaluate and act accordingly.
Why it matters
TLS certificates renew automatically as long as a domain still points to WordPress VIP. But that link can break quietly: decommission a project, or update the wrong DNS record, and the domain can stay attached to the environment while its DNS points elsewhere. The Domains section in the VIP Dashboard shows “Route not detected”, and the next renewal fails.
Sometimes that’s a stale domain nobody uses. Sometimes it’s a live site, pointed elsewhere by mistake, and the certificate lapses while traffic is still arriving. Until now, you heard about it after we did. Now you’re notified first, with the information you need to reconnect the domain or remove it.

- Notifications to emails and webhooks to Slack, Microsoft Teams, or any other service you’re already using.
- Details on why the renewal did not complete, including the current DNS records when the domain shows as “Route not detected”.
- Per-organization or per-application configuration, just like the other notification event types.
Get started
TLS Certificate Expiry notifications are available to all VIP customers, and you can configure them from Organization → Notifications or Application → Notifications.
